Why is terminology crucial for law? Why do law students feel like they are learning a whole new language when studying the law? These are some of the questions addressed by this course.
Students dive deep into legal English terminology, comparing Croatian and English legal regulations in the following legal subfields: crime, death and the law, family law (midterm), torts and contracts (final exam). The emphasis is on terminology. The main course materials are/will be available on Merlin.
The objective of this course is to prepare students with language and digital skills needed for professional lawyers in a multilingual job market.
Guests (legal practitioners from abroad) will also participate in teaching this course.
