The course offers an introduction to current methods of teaching second and third/foreign languages in institutional contexts. The aim of the course is to introduce students to central approaches and current methods in the foreign language classroom, as well as to make them acquainted with social, educational and psycholinguistic factors that have an impact on language teaching. Furthermore, students will be introduced to the basics of language learning program design, course design and material writing, as well as to central teaching and testing methods.

The course offers an introduction to key concepts and current issues in the field of second and third language learning. The aim of the course is to introduce students to central approaches in second and third language research, as a preparation for teaching languages as well as for further researching the process of second and third language learning. Students will apply their knowledge of selected key issues in the field while designing and conducting a small, life-oriented project related to language learning.
