The course in English for Erasmus students.
The course content will explore various models of naming practices in different cultures, with special reference to Croatian naming system. Particular attention will be paid to the influence of cultural context on the motivation in name-giving practices. The objective of this course is to draw attention to the relationship between names and identities, and show how names reflect the linguistic, historical, cultural and social context in which they arose. Students will be introduced to the methodology of onomastic research with particular regard to the importance of the field work.
