The aim of the course is to provide the students with an overview of different qualitative research methods in terms of collecting, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data. Qualitative methodology includes ethnography, observation, interviews and focus groups as well as the collection and analysis of other records of human activity. In order to be able to get a better understanding of different process driving human behavior, a qualitative researcher is skilled at analyzing various types of data including texts, naturally occurring talk and/or visual material. The course provides an introduction to some basic principles of qualitative methodology, an overview of the a variety of qualitative research methods and practice in collecting, coding and analyzing qualitative data.
