This is the introductory course, which will take place in weeks 1 to 6 in the Winter semester. 

This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles underlying contemporary cognitive linguistic theory and analysis. Emphasizing cognitive elements and processes integral to human linguistic ability, the course delves into intricate operational cognitive principles that underpin various facets of language, including lexical organization and grammatical structure, as well as conceptualization, meaning, discourse, and general principles of human thought. The primary objective is to point to some theoretical and methodological directions which can help us elucidate the intricate interplay between language and the human mind, fostering a deeper comprehension of the cognitive foundations of linguistic phenomena and language viewed as as a sub-system of human cognition.
