Upon completing this course, students should be able to understand and appreciate the genre of literary dystopia. They will be able to demonstrate their familiarity with common literary terms and apply them in their writings, they should be able to interpret texts by performing close readings of primary sources and using secondary sources on dystopian texts write a relevant paper on the assigned topic. They will be able to evaluate relations between dystopian texts and their historical, intellectual, and cultural contexts.
